Outrageous Love – Music
This audio was a spontaneous artistic creation inspired at the biannual Wisdom School, a program led by Marc Gafni at Shalom Mountain Retreat Center in New York. John Tarcza tells us that a “wild idea started to stir and evolve uncontrollably” in him while editing audio recordings from the weekend. He combined a few minutes of reflections by Marc Gafni with music (Erik Satie Gnossienne No. 1, Buddha Bar remix) and created this wonderful combination.
The following are several examples of outrageous love.
- Adopting a child or finding the extra energy to love your child in the hardest moments
- Writing an outrageous love letter to a friend
- Healing a family or personal trauma
- Taking the time to carefully gather all the facts about a situation before judging or acting out fear or self protection; in other words, discernment is an act of outrageous love
- Acting ethically when it is hard to do, giving up being right, admitting you were wrong even if you lose face
- Entering a relationship, or leaving a relationship, or staying with it in the relationship even in the painful times, until love is deepened
- Going wildly out of your way to help someone just because, forgiving a debt or a wrong done to you, giving regularly to people less fortunate than you
- Taking responsibility for reducing suffering in your immediate world
- Getting actively involved in larger causes of social or environmental or political justice
- Calling someone and say I love you
